What do people say who have been on a trip to the Dominican Republic?

After my first trip, my "needs" list and "wants" list completely changed. I learned that you do not need stuff to be happy. I learned that things will go exactly as they are supposed to regardless of how much you plan. I can't wait to go and be used in any way possible. - Anna Allen

I have left my heart there...so there's no questions I have to go back. We go thinking we're helping them but I always come back with gifts of the heart and blessed beyond words. From the team members to the sweet people of Barahona...God definitely has his hands all over this. - Paula Lambert

I've been down to the Dominican Republic twice. Our church had been going and Dale Williams was very active. When he mentioned that he was taking Megan down for her senior project, my daughter Amanda and I tagged along.

After that I was hooked. The people are warm and loving, especially the children. The country is beautiful, the weather nice, especially in the winter and there are so many opportunities.

Sometimes in America it seems like it is hard to have an impact but there one person can have a tremendous impact on people's lives. My two trips down there have been wonderful and the kids from the DR are in my thoughts a lot.  I consider it to be one of the most life changing experiences I have had.  The other nice thing is that we are continuing to work there and are developing a permanent connection. - Mike Vitamvas

About the Good Samaritan Clinic
The Good Samaritan Clinic is the foundation of everything we do.  The clinic and the staff that work there are our "hands and feet."  They see patients every day and provide support that can only be done by someone who is there.  The dedication to the people of Batey 7 by Dr. Jorge and his staff is remarkable.

The clinic provides regular medical care, screens patients for our surgical teams,  and helps coordinate other types of medical services.

On the grounds of the Good Samaritan Clinic we also have dental facilities, rooms that are used for vocational training and a large meeting hall that is used for church services as well as a variety of meetings.

The Good Samaritan Medical Clinic serves the needs of people in Batey 7 as well as surrounding Bateys.   This clinic saves lives and improves the health of the people it serves.  Here is a recent example that we received from Dr. Jorge.

"Monday November 19th might have been an ordinary day but in Batey 7 you were changing lives.

Adelaida, who is a two year old girl was found naked and almost unconscious in her four year old sister's arms.  She was brought into the clinic by the lady who lives next door.

The little girl had been abandoned by her mother and had not eaten anything for 25 hours.  She was hypo-tonic and her pupils were wide open with little reaction to light.

We put in an IV and within two hours she left the clinic walking again.  This happened because of the love of those who believe in the clinic and their financial support."

Thank you - Jorge

Below are some photos of the Good Samaritan Clinic.  You can support the clinic for one day for only $100.  That includes the salary for Dr. Jorge and his staff, and the cost to run the clinic.  If you have a particular day you would like to sponsor let us know when you click the donate button.  We will put a plaque in the Clinic with your name honoring the partnership you have made with the clinic.
